The film was conceived in early 2004. Inspired initially by the film ‘One Giant Leap’. Little did we know back then that we were embarking on a decade of filming, intermittently shooting as the opportunity arose when either speakers or Elders’ gatherings presented themselves.
Not bound by tight schedules or distributor delivery dates, we were able to follow an intuitive path, listening to and following spiritual guidance as much as possible whilst developing the story that wanted to be told.
This wasn’t always an easy path as the film has taken many twists and turns and is now virtually unrecognisable from that footage in the early years. Like many documentary filmmakers will attest, the film only truly took shape once all the filming was completed and post production was underway. The Spirit of this film is an organic living being and however much we tried to manoeuvre it in a particular direction, it would ultimately choose it’s own line, following the feminine principal of flow. When we reached a block, we would invariably surrender, sit back and wait for another way to show itself.
We have been humbled time and again by the love and support of people from all over the world who have made this process possible. It truly has been an awakening of the heart, funded by the hearts of amazing people all over the world who want to see this film make it to the screen.
Unfortunately due to ‘burn out’ and falling sick shortly after we did a couple of audience feedback screenings last summer, the film’s producer/director decided to take a year out to focus on her own personal healing and the film was put on the back burner.
However, be assured that Sixth Sun will soon be entering the final stage of post production and we thank you for your continued patience and support. Sometimes things just don’t manifest in the way one expects. As a dear brother from across the sacred pond reminded me recently…. “all in Spirit timing rather than human timing”. What a long strange journey it has been!
